Ashwin Ramaswami for State Senate
From the desk of Ashwin Ramaswami
November 7, 2024

I want to personally thank you for your support in my campaign for State Senate.

Though this district was drawn to keep me out — it was won by 14 points (57-43) in 2022 — we closed that gap to just 7 points (53-47) this year, running at just about the level of the Presidential ticket in our district. Given the national environment, we ran the best campaign we could — and I am so proud of the progress we have made together.

This campaign has upended expectations of what young people are capable of. We have mobilized people from across our community, from educators, students, business owners, and working class people, to support and believe in the next generation. We smashed records with nearly $1M raised and over 10,000 unique contributions to power our campaign. We have opened the door to more people like me, with unconventional backgrounds, to enter and succeed in politics. We have shown that young people are not a liability, but an asset. And that one is truly never too young to do the right thing.

This race may be over, but it is only the start. I'm committed to fighting for our communities and working to serve all of you. It's time to work with the public servants we have elected to address the issues that matter, and hold them accountable. And it's time to encourage more young people across the nation to step up and serve their communities. Our future depends on it.

Remember: the most valuable asset in politics is time.

Onwards and upwards,

Ramaswami’s campaign has vastly outraised Still’s in the latest filing period between Feb. 1 and April 30, with Ramaswami raising $146,442 and Still raising only $6,400."

A software engineer, Ramaswami even maintained an open-source JavaScript library in his free time ... “The hackers in cybersecurity are really important,” said Ramaswami. “But it's all for nothing if you have politicians who just come in and try to overturn the election results.”"

Still is being challenged by Ashwin Ramaswami, a 24-year-old Democrat and law student from Johns Creek who worked in election security during the same 2020 election that Still is still dealing with."
  • March 23, 2024: "Ashwin Ramaswami spent the last three years working for the federal government to protect elections from hackers. Now, he’s targeting what he says is a greater threat to democracy: his state senator."

They are following their convictions despite the risks to their bank accounts and personal safety. And they’ve got help. "

What Voters Need to Know

Voters, especially women, middle partisans on both sides, young, and voters from minority communities need to read in the mail that Shawn Still supports Georgia's abortion ban, opposes all common sense gun safety laws, and has been indicted on 7 felony counts as a leader in the Fake Elector scheme in Georgia to steal their votes.

Summary

Ashwin Ramaswami is a small business owner who was born and raised in Johns Creek and is ready to get to work for the people of Georgia. He wants to work across partisan lines to restore and protect women's reproductive freedom, pass common sense gun safety laws, and ensure our elections are free and fair.

Shawn Still supports Georgia's abortion ban and has pledged that he would vote to make abortion completely illegal and put fertility treatments, like IVF, at risk. He was even endorsed by a group that wants to make abortion illegal, even in cases of rape or incest.

Instead of getting guns off the streets and protecting Georgians who have been victims of gun violence, Shawn Still has promised to oppose any common sense, bipartisan gun safety laws and is making it even easier for criminals to get their hands on illegal guns.

Shawn Still was indicted as part of the election interference chaos during the counting of votes in Fulton County after the 2020 election. He is facing 7 felony charges for forging illegal documents as a fake elector and trying to overturn elections in Georgia. He even sued Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to overturn the election results. Because of his felony indictment, Governor Brian Kemp launched an investigation into Still.
